For more than 60 years, our association has supported potters and ceramic artists in Christchurch and the Canterbury region.

Our clubrooms are set amongst mature trees and gardens in the beautiful Avice Hill Reserve. The rooms were designed and purpose-built as a working pottery studio for teaching and working, in 1989. As a result of a generous bequest from renowned plantswoman and collector Avice Hill, the rooms are attached to a historic two-room cottage which was part of the original Hill farm.

What our members are saying...
I joined looking for work space to improve my potting skills after a couple of terms of basic classes. What I found on the Wednesday club days was a diverse friendly group of people, willing to share ideas, tips, encouragement, enthusiasm and biscuits! It has become a fun fixture in my week. Kay

Becoming a member of the CPA this year has been great. Everyone I’ve met has been friendly and happy to answer questions and offer advice if I’ve asked. It’s a supportive and encouraging place to belong. The classes are a good way to learn new things and meet others, and I also really appreciate being able to pop along when the room is free to practice. Tjun
